Profile

I am currently working on an embroidery project that uses skills I started learning as a child to express my artistic vision. No matter what medium I work in, my art is always informed by my desire to protect and enjoy our natural environment.

    Illustrated 300 herbaceous plants collected into the guidebook (still used today) for Edgewood Preserve

Flora of North America, vol 25     Oxford University Press

 

 Mayan Calendars  1978-1982        Athanor Press

     Created approximately 100 illustrations for 3 years of Calendars.

Environment related work

Board Member,  Camp Unalayee , Palo Alto, CA. 1985-1998

The Camp has programs that introduce children and young adults to a fully immersive wilderness backpacking experience.

 

Board Member,  Fieldguides, Palo Alto, CA  1989-1992

Fieldguides provides outdoor education and environmental and historical outdoor education programs to school groups.

 

Docent, Elizabeth Terwilliger Nature Education Foundation/WildCare,

Marin County, CA,     1984-1988

    Working as a naturalist, I led grade-school groups around Spring Lake, in Santa Rosa, CA  teaching them how to identify local animals, birds, plants and how to protect them.

    Vincent Taylor Studio,  1973-1981   Stained Glass

 

    Ron Russel Studio 1978-1981  Glass Art

 

Empy Graphics, Petaluma CA 1982-1984

    Worked in a sand blasting chamber cutting custom designs onto plate glass and glass objects: from windows

     and shower doors to ash trays and salt shakers.

 Apprentice, The Guardino Studio, Sonoma, CA — 1978-1981

     The Guardinos’ produced Rembrandt-style framed etchings for sale at the Renaissance Faire & Dickens California.

     All techniques had to be authentically old style and hand made.

 Artist, Dan River Textiles Company, New York City, NY, 1973-1974

     Airbrushed, illustrates samples for the sellers to show fabric models. (Pre-computer graphic capabilities)

Gallery Work

Miwok Gallery, Miramar, HMB, CA 2023

      Managed the gallery; organized the art showing, hung the art, staffed the gallery

 

Studio assistant, Art Guild of Sonoma, Sonoma, CA 1978-1982

       Staffed the Guild shop and general studio assistant to artists  members of the Arts guild of Sonoma;

       Assisted in their studios fabricating stained glass, printed etching, mat & framing art, managing artists booths at fairs
